Irwin Mitchell Advises Blue Inc On Acquisition Of 20 D2 Stores

Team Praised For Work On Deal

National law firm Irwin Mitchell has advised Blue Inc, the fast growing mens’ fashion retailer on the acquisition of 20 D2 stores, which were in administration.
D2, the business originally owned by Sir Tom Hunter, fell into administration for the second time in just over two years on December 29th closing 19 stores. The retailer sold a mixture of branded and own brand denim and young fashion.
The acquisition by Blue Inc of the 20 stores, from the administrator BDO, will save around 200 jobs in the high street.  Blue Inc will rebadge all stores to its own brand.
Steven Cohen, Managing Director of Blue Inc praised the services of the Irwin Mitchell team.
This team was led by Irwin Mitchell corporate partner Andrew Woolf, assisted by Solicitor Paul Smith and members of the firm’s Glasgow office. Gordon Hollerin and Fiona Carlin of Semple Fraser in Glasgow acted for the administrator.
The acquisition is the second major buy for Blue Inc in the past 12 months. The retailer bought 46 Officers Club out of administration in March 2011. Irwin Mitchell also advised on this deal, which was a first for this client for the firm.
