Carly Russell

I am an Associate Solicitor in the London Mayfair office. I specialise in both the contentious and non-contentious fields of international and domestic private client law.

I have a particular focus in bringing and defending claims relating to Wills, Trusts and Estates: cases may relate to conflicts of laws, domicile, mental capacity, constructive trusts, claims for financial provision, the construction of wills, estoppel and the appointment and removal of Trustees and Executors.  I also bring and defend professional negligence actions within this field.

I advise clients on how to protect from contention through estate planning and protection, as well as administer those lifetime structures and estates on death; I also advise charities and philanthropists on the establishment, regulation and operation of UK charities.

What inspired you to get into law?

The law is continually evolving as the world becomes more international and complex, which directly impacts upon every individual.  Private client law, in particular, determines those individual’s rights and freedoms.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I am inspired to see that my knowledge and skills can be used to improve and plan people’s lives, be it by protecting for their future or giving them a voice.

What do you do away from the office?

My passion is in all sports.  I participate in sponsored fun runs and long-distance organised bicycle rides.  I play badminton weekly.  I am an avid supporter of Charlton Athletic football club.  I also try to watch all formula 1 races and go to at least one meet per year.  Other interests include art, reading and music.
